Wow, this is all coming as a bit of a surprise. Someone is actually reading Deschamps Blog. You wouldn't know it from the amount of comments I get, but I'm not complaining.
Yesterday,
Blogs of War cited my post regarding Debbie Schlussel's attack on Barack Obama among very esteemed company, of which I'm not sure I deserve to be included. Like I said before, though, I'm not complaining:
Hot Air: I like Debbie. She does good work. But I am, shall we say, skeptical in the extreme of both the reasoning and conclusion of this particular post.
Blue Crab Boulevard:
Look, this is not constructive and not at all helpful to the political
debate in the United States right now. There is also no indication that
Barack Obama is anything but a somewhat under-experienced politician
from Illinois. I’d rather see people not go down this road at all. Give
it a rest people.
Baldilocks:
I’m tired of the insinuations about Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) because
his dead father was a Muslim. I’m tired of the insinuations about his
middle name—Hussein—and the racist/bigoted insinuations that I’ve seen
on the Right that flow from there. I’m even tired of the assertion that
the senator isn’t even really a black American (whatever that means to
a group of people who are demonstrably of mixed-race for the most part)
because he has a white mother and a non-American black—i.e.
African—father and, yes, since his father and my father were/are of the
same tribe and nationality, I take that last bit of information quite
personally.
Deschamps Blog:
Debbie Schlussel is really stretching things here. If we’re going to go
the route of attacking Obama for his middle name and having Muslims in
his family, I’m having no part of it. There are plenty of people with
Arabic names and heritage, and they are diverse in faith and opinions.
To be included with the folks over at Hot Air is very heartening. And so is getting cited by a
Weblog Awards finalist winner.
That was about enough recognition for me for one week, but I checked my comments to my post,
"Hitchens is a freak," to find a comment by Jimmy Carter saying I was now in the
Townhall.com Top 10 Blogs. When I first read Jimmy's comment, I thought he was saying that Christopher Hitchens' quote should be in some sort of Top 10, which I would have to agree wholeheartedly with. Once I figured out what he meant, please excuse the foul language, the first words I said upon reading this was "Holy $hit!"
I'm glad I'm providing something that people enjoy. Thank you so much for reading my blog.
